The scruffy, untidy lawn edge trimmer is one of the things that really frustrate the average home gardener. Most of us dream of having clean, neat edge, we see in fine public gardens, and perhaps in some gardens of our neighbors as well. In cool, humid climate in summer, when grasses from seed is usually grown, it's not a big problem when cutting a straight edge with a half moon spade a few times a year or so say and then that edge with secateurs or perhaps with amechanical lawn trimmers.
In the Mediterranean countries and other hot and dry summers, regions, however, Deep-rooting, perennial species are usually grown for turf grasses. With these, how many home gardeners are aware, to their displeasure, the maintenance of a clean edge much more involved. Moreover, since these species tend to by sending runners over or under the ground, the grass often turns into a weed violation of neighboring plants, beds, distributed during check irritatingly difficult to prove, onthe same time.
One solution is to insert a plastic edge product in the ground. These have a depth of 10-15cm (4-6in) and vary greatly in price and quality. The cheap products have a very thin profile and are virtually impossible to keep straight into the ground, so that (instead of a clean line as the photos on the package) always show instead received a disorderly wave for a lawn edge trimmers. The more expensive types and thus flexible enough to allow the use of curved edges that are sufficientlyEnterprises, creating a line that is reasonably clean and straight.
It is an illusion to believe that Edge Products, expensive, or prevent any other way that the grass out and crawled under the invasion of the nearby flower bed. Species that spread by rhizomes (stems, which is parallel to the ground), but having him as the Bermuda or Zoisia varieties no problems running below a barrier that 25cm (have 10in) deep or more to grow, there is constant vigilance necessary to cut away the grass, which is penetratedthe planting beds.
The advantage of these products is simply that maintaining the slight edge, provided there is a mechanical strimmer after mowing the lawn. The disadvantage, however, aesthetically, because the top of the device is visible. The sight of a plastic tube which runs along the edge of the lawn is not necessarily a disaster, but hardly the last word in design not too smart!
From an aesthetic point of view, therefore, there is no substitute for decent, natural materialssuch as wooden sleepers. Sleepers by pine forest, for example, are not terribly expensive, and an attractive edge with a width of about 15cm line gives the turf more clarity and definition. Products made of wood must be treated before the installation of red, and with oil once or twice a year to prevent paint that they dry out. An edge of brick paving, which is more expensive to install, but no regular maintenance required thereafter, so that when appropriate design-wise, may consider as an alternative toWooden railway sleepers, especially since they are used in circular lines, and be straight.
